Today's Horse Racing Tips

Chester 14.05

Competitive 7.5f and going with a couple of selections in a split stakes race. Important to get a decent break and first up is one near the head of the market in David Loughnane's PARTISAN HERO.

Arrives fit from a spell in the UAE and gets a cracking draw to improve on his 2nd in this last year. Last year he produced a big run to finish a close second from stall 12, racing prominently throughout before only finding one too strong late on. This time he returns with the huge advantage of stall 1.

A front running sort should be adopting similar tactics again and hopefully controlling matters from the outset. Has previous for that with notably when making all in a strong Class 2 at Epsom off a mark of 83, beating the now 103 rated Golden Mind,

The return to 7f on easier ground should suit and Rossa Ryan doing the steering with form up top and priced with just better than wipes yer face 11/2 with the FOUR paying places.

2nd up is the Tim Easterby charge BRIGHTON BOY who could just run a slot having taken a C4 selling stakes here last year for Andrew Balding before exchanging hands.

Prior had taken a 6f novices earning an opening rating of 83. Now rated just 1lb above looks an interesting outsider in the race and may not be as badly positioned as the draw initially suggests.

He does possess the early speed to help negate it, often breaking smartly and putting himself into a handy position quickly. That could be crucial here, especially if able to get across without burning too much energy early.

Those two solid efforts count for plenty around this unique track, where not every horse handles the tight turns and has the type of profile that could see him sticking around for a place. In a race where track craft and tactical speed are key.

We had a nice winner in the Hunt Cup on Saturday and a noted one following home was Mick & Dave's WAR EAGLE.

With a win prior to that arrives bang in form and looks to have found another suitable opportunity here. The draw also appears to have fallen kindly, giving him every chance to secure a prominent early position without needing luck in running.

He has shown the ability to handle this type of ground well in the past, and with the race not looking overloaded with progressive types, his consistency and current form makes him a strong selection.
