Horse Racing Tips by Always Back Winners:- 22nd June 2026

🏇 A busy afternoon and evening of Flat racing awaits with meetings from Catterick, Brighton and Windsor, offering a mixture of competitive handicaps & maiden contests.

Too many 3 yo handicaps on the whole but there's a couple of note. The evening card at Windsor rounds things off with several competitive handicaps and what looks the strongest racing of the day.

Today's Horse Racing Tips

Catterick 17.10

Today's selection comes from a race where very few arrive with convincing winning profiles, and that immediately brings a long-standing ABW tracker horse firmly into the equation.

MARTIN'S BRIG is hardly a serial winner, but he has become one of those horses we've followed closely over the years and there have been enough signs recently to suggest another big run could be on the cards at rewarding odds.

Since joining Derek Thompson from Iain Jardine, he has produced a number of solid efforts in low-grade handicaps and remains capable of being competitive from these basement marks. He does like to do things off the front and when allowed to dictate matters he can be a difficult horse to reel in.

Catterick could suit that style perfectly. Most of his best efforts have come when able to get on with things from the front and there is every chance Barry McHugh will attempt similar tactics this afternoon. He is no stranger to delivering front-running rides around here and has won for us before employing exactly those tactics.

Although the selected has only raced here once previously, he ran a very respectable second to Filey Beach, showing he handles the track and its unique demands. In a race where several of his rivals arrive with limited winning form, proven course effectiveness is not something to be underestimated.

Emerald Army is one of the more obvious contenders given his proven Catterick form, while a handful of others arrive with bits and pieces of recent placed form. However, few bring the combination of handicap experience, tactical speed and any front-running form to the table.

Priced at 16/1 with THREE places on offer, he's the type of outsider I'm always happy to side with in a wide-open Class 6 handicap. 🍀🏇

Windsor 20.20

At a race where many of the principals arrive with questions to answer, SECRET HANDSHEIKH makes plenty of appeal at rewarding each-way odds and could easily outrun his position in the market.

We were on him at Bath three starts ago when ran poorly but backed that up with another solid performance at Brighton, before things failed to go his way on his most recent outing. However can run a rule through that LTO effort when drawn badly in a C5 and never able to secure a favourable track position over the minimum trip and the finishing position can be upgraded slightly as a result.

The veteran has certainly become a little frustrating, blowing hot and cold at times, but the handicapper has given him every chance and he now finds himself on a mark from which he is more than capable of being competitive in this grade.

Secret Handsheikh returns to Class 6 company. He found things happening a little too quickly in a stronger race last time, but now drops back into calmer waters from the same mark as when running a solid race at Brighton two starts ago.

Windsor often rewards those able to race prominently and secure a good early position, and he possesses the tactical speed to do exactly that. If able to get into a handy spot from the outset, he should avoid the traffic problems that have hindered him on occasions and give himself every opportunity of staying on strongly in the closing stages.

In contests like this, proven handicappers operating from workable marks can often outrun double-figure odds. As mentioned previous, the slight concern is that several of his victories have come in smaller fields and today's contest asks a different question.

However, he remains well treated, should enjoy a favourable tactical position and has enough form in the book to suggest he can be involved if things fall his way. Joe leavy doing the steering and priced at 18/1 with FOUR places on offer in a wide-open Class 6 handicap. 🍀🏇
