Nothing on the evening card from Esher but Ripon has a nice 6f sprint to consider and Yarmouth’s long straight provides a completely different test where stronger travellers and well-handicapped closers can come into play.

Today's Horse Racing Tips

Ripon 16.10

The short-priced favourite Jet Warrior certainly has handicapping claims from 5lb below his last winning mark, but looks cramped enough in the betting given the tactical setup of the race.

Historical Ripon data under these conditions heavily favours horses securing an early prominent position, and there are slight doubts whether the favourite will get the ideal track position from a wider draw in what could become a tactical sprint.

Happy to side with the ultra-consistent veteran HURSTWOOD here, who looks another solid “wipes yer face” type in a race lacking depth outside the favourite 👀🍀

Pace and draw data suggest this 6f handicap should strongly favour horses racing prominently, and he looks ideally positioned to get the run of the race from stall 7 under the improving Ethan Tindall, whose valuable 5lb claim continues to catch the eye this season.

He won a big field C4 last week on Lord Roxby for Nigel Tinkler and landed another C4 here last year for boss Richard Fahey last term and beginning to look a very capable claimer in these northern sprint races.

Hurstwood arrives here after another respectable effort when 4th of 12 at Redcar, beaten just over 2 lengths and arguably with more left in the tank than the bare result suggests. The handicapper has eased him a further 1lb and that now leaves him on a mark from which he looks highly competitive once again.

Course form is another major positive, loves it here, having won this very race in both 2023 and last season, with a close second in between in 2024.

With the race setup likely to suit and conditions very much in his favour looks capable of giving another bold showing at around 11/2 with the THREE paying places on offer 👀💰🍀

Ripon 16.10 - Hurstwood (Full Stakes Challenge)

There is obvious respect for First Folio, whose low draw and likely pace angle make him a major player on the raw data, but at around 7/2 the price feels tight enough in a deep ten-runner handicap where several want the same forward position.

Prefer the chances of FANTASY MASTER who looks a cracking each-way angle in this competitive Class 4 sprint. Has recent form nad the pace set up here suggests Richard Cowell’s runner is primed for another big effort. 📈

The six-year-old returned from a winter break with an encouraging third in a stronger Class 4 nineteen days ago, shaping as though the run would bring him forward nicely. That pipeopener saw him travel well before just flattening out late on.

Remains on the same mark of 71 here and still looks attractively treated based on the ease of his Class 5 Chelmsford success before the turn of the year. 👀

Yarmouth favours prominent racers and front-runners over this 6f trip, and likely to be plenty of pace on from the likes of First Folio and Nevya’s Angel. A prominent run from trap 8 should allow Billy Whizz to track the speed without becoming involved in a dust up

Currently on around 15/2 with the regulation THREE paying places, 💰🍀
