Horse Racing Tips by Always Back Winners:- 24th July 2026
🌞 Friday's UK turf action comes from Ascot, Thirsk, York, Sandown and Chepstow, with York's evening card standing out as the highlight for handicap enthusiasts. The Music Showcase meeting features a fascinating 7f handicap and a wide-open 6f handicap that has attracted a huge entry, exactly the type of races where value can often be found.
Yesterday's selection War Howl went a non-runner, so we move on to another excellent day of Flat racing.
🎯 As always, we'll be looking beyond the obvious favourites and concentrating on races where the race setup, pace, draw, class opportunity and value all align. 🍀🐎

York 17.32
This one of the most competitive handicaps of the day, with 18 runners and five places on offer. There are plenty with chances, headed by Alpha Capture, whose profile is difficult to fault, while Roaring Ralph arrives in excellent form and Golden Strike is another with claims if reproducing his best. However, from a betting perspective, I think the value lies elsewhere.
First up JONNY CONCRETE who has been knocking firmly on the door all season and looks primed to run another big race. We were with him last time at Newmarket under Tom Marquand, where he was beaten just 1¼ lengths in a stronger contest off a mark 1lb higher than today's. That was another solid effort in a sequence of consistently competitive performances.
The return to 7f is another positive, while his record on a sound surface is rock solid. He has repeatedly shown he can hold his own in races of this quality and today's conditions look ideal. Iain Jardine's horses are running well and the booking of Jack Nicholls, whose valuable 5lb claim effectively leaves Jonny Concrete attractively weighted, could prove a significant advantage in a race where small margins often make the difference.
Everything suggests he'll get a good position just off the pace before being produced to challenge in the closing stages, and at 6/1 with FIVE places, he makes plenty of appeal.
At the other end of the market, STRATOCRACY makes plenty of each-way appeal at a much bigger price.
Kevin Frost's gelding has quietly put together three respectable efforts this season, all over 7f, and they've come in races that were arguably a little stronger than today's contest. This represents a slight easing in class and gives him the opportunity to be far more competitive.
His profile suggests he's better than recent finishing positions might indicate, while Joanna Mason is an eye-catching booking. She has ridden twice previously for the Frost stable and finished in the frame on both occasions, giving confidence that the partnership can make an impact again.
If reproducing the level of form he's shown against stronger opposition, he has every chance of outrunning those generous odds with 18/1 available and FIVE places on offer, he doesn't need to win to reward each-way support.

York 19.15
The concluding sprint on the Knavesmire is a typically competitive 22-runner handicap, but the enhanced SIX places on offer with firms such as bet365 makes this an ideal each-way race.
Plenty have chances, with Rajaking expected to prove popular after recent consistency, while Tolstoy and Almarada Prince have attracted notable market support overnight.
First up, one of the market leaders in MAGIC BOY.
He has done little wrong this season and arrives here after building on his recent good form when landing a handicap by a neck over this course and distance off a 4lb lower mark.
That victory confirmed what his previous placed efforts had been suggesting – he's thriving and remains very much at home here on the Knavesmire.
He's proven effective from 6f to 8f, handles a sound surface well and has repeatedly shown he can be competitive in races of this quality. The revised handicap mark undoubtedly asks a little more, but his overall profile suggests he's capable of taking another step forward rather than having reached his ceiling.
Drawn mid pack, he has the speed to race prominently and rather than needing everything to fall perfectly, he should be able to establish a good early position before the race develops.
The booking of P.J. McDonald catches the eye. he's been up top a few of our selections of late and few better at securing an early position in York's competitive sprint handicaps.
Priced at just better than wipes yer face 11/2 and the SIX paying places.
For those looking for a bigger-priced alternative, I am looking to INGLEBY ARCHIE who makes plenty of each-way appeal.
He scored by half a length at Nottingham off a mark 2lb lower on his penultimate start before following that with another solid effort when third, beaten just two lengths, off today's mark of 72. That suggests the handicapper still hasn't caught up with him.
He enjoys making the running, and again, notably, runners have faired well off the front. If he can get into his natural rhythm early, he'll be racing in exactly the part of the race where you want to be.
He's best over 5f and 6f, handles G/F ground well, 10-2-6, and still looks attractively treated on some of his older handicap form.
Last season he was consistently competitive from marks in the mid to high 70s against stronger opposition, yet he lines up here from just 72. That represents a significant easing by the assessor and suggests he's now better treated than he has been for some time.
Hopefully that victory at Nottingham and subsequent placed effort indicate he's beginning to take full advantage of that lower mark.
With this preferred front-running style perfectly suited another bold bid looks very much on the cards. I will take the booking of the often underrated Jack Garritty as a plus. He's an excellent judge of pace, particularly on straightforward galloping tracks like York, and could be allowed a relatively uncontested lead on the far side.
With 11/1 available and the paying SIX places, he looks a decent each-way shout in this one.
