Attention now turns to another busy afternoon of UK turf racing, with meetings taking place at Sandown Park, Doncaster, Newbury and Great Yarmouth.

Today's Horse Racing Tips

Donny 16.15

There is plenty to like about both Farandaway and Commander Of Life, and it's no surprise they head the betting. Both have solid profiles and deserve plenty of respect. However, at the current prices I'm happy to look elsewhere for a horse that could easily outrun his odds.

Ben Haslam's WAR HOWL has recent form figures that don't leap off the page, but I think there's a perfectly valid excuse.

Following back-to-back victories in 2025, including an impressive Class 4 success at Ascot, the handicapper reacted firmly, pushing him into the 80s as a three-year-old during his time with Mick Appleby. Since then he's spent much of his time competing in races that have simply been beyond his optimum level.

Now with Ben Haslam, today's contest represents a much more realistic opportunity, on past performance and far more in keeping with where he's shown his best form. I

There has already been significant market support, with War Howl contracting from around 20/1 overnight into 9's suggesting the stable may feel he's ready to leave those recent form figures behind.

Stable jockey Andrew Mullen continues to take the ride, with good reason to believe he'll be given every chance to capitalise on the drop back into more suitable company.

With Lumbourg and Al Muqdad expected to ensure an honest gallop, I'm hoping he can slot our selected into a handy position just off the pace rather than getting involved in an early battle for the lead.

If the race unfolds that way, he should be perfectly positioned to strike late and make full use of the drop back into much more suitable company.
