Oriental Prince wins for Jim Goldie advised 20/1
💥 🏆 Brilliant back to back winning days today as ORIENTAL PRINCE landed our 20/1 each-way selection, getting the better of a big 21-runner field for Jim Goldie on the Knavesmire.
Paul Mulrennan put him right where we wanted him, and despite a mixed turf profile his handicap mark gave him a genuine chance as he was backed in from our advised 20/1 into 10/1 SP.

COPPER KNIGHT & ORIENTAL PRINCE – 12/1 & 20/1 EW 6 places, 1/5 odds
Open looking Class 4 over the minimum and taking out the obvious favourites will go with a double dart here.
There are clearly younger and more fashionable horses in the field. Explosive Finish arrives in excellent form and has already been well supported, while Havana Rum brings strong recent class figures
At the age of 12, COPPER KNIGHT needs no introduction around York and, while his form has been a little in and out this season, there has been enough evidence to suggest the fire hasn’t completely gone out.
He showed exactly that at Beverley in May when battling back to get his head in front from a mark of 79, and although his subsequent efforts have been patchy, the handicapper has continued to relent. He lines up here from 74, some 5lb below that latest winning mark, which puts him on a very interesting rating if returning anywhere near his better level.
His 2026 turf races have averaged around 7lb higher than this race and the return of David Allan is another positive. Allan knows this veteran extremely well and was aboard for Copper Knight’s last two wins, so it is encouraging to see him back in the saddle now the horse has slipped to such an attractive mark.
He's landed a plum trap 1 draw as low numbers have performed best in comparable big-field races here, while horses able to race near the speed have also held an advantage.
His long-term race-style history shows he is naturally comfortable prominent or leading, so hopefully can hang in there for a place position at worst.

While best has been on the AW he's no back number in this line up.for our second each-way angle. Like Copper Knight, gets the favourable low side from trap 2.
He had a tremendous 2025, winning no fewer than seven times, although it is worth pointing out that six of those victories came on the all-weather. His turf record is therefore not quite as impressive as that headline figure might suggest, but there have been enough signs this season that he remains capable on grass.
He caught the eye when dropping back to 5f at Hamilton in August, finishing second of 11, before typically throwing in a lesser effort back there next time. That sort of inconsistency comes with the territory at this price, but his broader 2026 turf form shows that he has been competing in races at least as strong as this one.
His recent turf races have been in slightly stronger fields and has also managed a respectable fourth in Class 3 company this season.
The handicapper has also given him a real chance from 69, which puts him around 8lb below his last winning mark of 77. Given that he has already shown signs this season that there is still plenty of ability left, that is an interesting position from which to attack a big-field handicap.
