Today's Selections - Iain Jardine winner

This one of the most competitive handicaps of the day, with 18 runners and five places on offer. There are plenty with chances, headed by Alpha Capture, whose profile is difficult to fault, while Roaring Ralph arrives in excellent form and Golden Strike is another with claims if reproducing his best. However, from a betting perspective, I think the value lies elsewhere.
First up JONNY CONCRETE who has been knocking firmly on the door all season and looks primed to run another big race. We were with him last time at Newmarket under Tom Marquand, where he was beaten just 1¼ lengths in a stronger contest off a mark 1lb higher than today's. That was another solid effort in a sequence of consistently competitive performances.
The return to 7f is another positive, while his record on a sound surface is rock solid. He has repeatedly shown he can hold his own in races of this quality and today's conditions look ideal. Iain Jardine's horses are running well and the booking of Jack Nicholls, whose valuable 5lb claim effectively leaves Jonny Concrete attractively weighted, could prove a significant advantage in a race where small margins often make the difference.
Everything suggests he'll get a good position just off the pace before being produced to challenge in the closing stages, and at 6/1 with FIVE places, he makes plenty of appeal.
At the other end of the market, STRATOCRACY makes plenty of each-way appeal at a much bigger price.
Kevin Frost's gelding has quietly put together three respectable efforts this season, all over 7f, and they've come in races that were arguably a little stronger than today's contest. This represents a slight easing in class and gives him the opportunity to be far more competitive.
His profile suggests he's better than recent finishing positions might indicate, while Joanna Mason is an eye-catching booking. She has ridden twice previously for the Frost stable and finished in the frame on both occasions, giving confidence that the partnership can make an impact again.
If reproducing the level of form he's shown against stronger opposition, he has every chance of outrunning those generous odds with 18/1 available and FIVE places on offer, he doesn't need to win to reward each-way support.
