💥 Patience rewarded as we backed Paul Midgley trained HOVER ON THE WIND again to win at a great price following that Thirsk outing two weeks ago. Advised early doors at a slightly drifting 16's, David Nolan had him riding closer to the pace of late and found plenty enough when asked to go on. Backed heavily after we posted was soon 10's and went of at 8's🏇🍀💰🫎

Today's Selections - JPaul Midgley trained

Pontefract 16.30

A warmish order with the sole 3yo Queen Sana heading the market for Ollie Sangster.

However, as always, looking at EW prices LTO selected, HOVER ON THE WIND doesn't leap off the page, but a deeper dive into the numbers suggests he's overpriced and capable of outrunning his odds.

Today he drops in class having spent much of the last year contesting handicaps with average ratings comfortably above today's AvOR of 64.3, regularly holding his own in stronger company.

Although his recent finishing positions don't immediately catch the eye, they have come in better races than this, and he now finds himself competing from a more workable handicap mark.

There are also reasons to believe Pontefract will suit. He has already run well here, recording a strong performance on his only previous visit, and his form at other tracks with demanding uphill finishes, such as Beverley and Newcastle, suggests he relishes a proper stamina test over the minimum trip.

The booking of David Nolan is another positive. Few riders know Pontefract better, and his patient judgement around this track can often make the difference in these competitive sprint handicaps.

Hopefully he can race closer to the pace than of late and grab one of placers at worst with 16/1 with THREE places on offer 🍀🏇
