🐎 Sunday's racing provides a more relaxed feel before the excitement of Glorious Goodwood gets underway this week, but there's still some competitive action to get stuck into.

The sole UK Flat turf meeting comes from Pontefract, where a seven-race card offers us a sole 6f sprint to consider up the stiff hill.

Let's look to keep the incremental profits building. 🍀🐎📈

Horseracing tips below.

Ponty 17.00

🏇The market has understandably centred around Starsong and Rain Cap.

The former for Mick Appleby looks opposable as an infrequent winner and notably his recent victories have come at Brighton, a unique undulating track that doesn't always translate to more conventional sprint venues like Pontefract.

Rain Cap commands plenty of respect after another consistent campaign and is ideally suited by much of today's race setup. Nevertheless, as a nine-year-old he is unlikely to find further improvement and, at around 10/3, looks priced on the assumption that he can simply reproduce his very best form once again.

At an EW price, Eldeyaar, had conditions turned softer, appeals, but with the ground expected to remain on the quicker side he just loses a little of his appeal.

At around 11/2 I'm happy to take a chance on BATTENBURG BELLE.

The selection doesn't head the market, but today's return to six furlongs could prove the catalyst for a return to winning ways.

She finally shed her maiden tag at Catterick in June after several commendable placed efforts. Although that contest wasn't the strongest Class 6 handicap you'll ever see, she showed determination to get her head in front and confirmed that she could capitalise when conditions fell her way.

That was followed up with a below-par effort over seven furlongs at Beverley, but that performance is easy enough to forgive. She never looked entirely comfortable, failed to travel with her usual fluency and the extra furlong appeared to stretch her stamina rather than expose a lack of ability.

Dropping back to her optimum six furlongs looks an important move.

She has already shown she handles both good to firm and softer ground, remains only 1lb above her winning mark, and the booking of Jason Hart catches the eye. His presence only strengthens confidence that a positive ride can see her competitive from the outset.

Priced with 13/21 available and THREE paying places on offer.
