š Sundayās UK turf action comes from Chepstow and Leicester.
The former looks the more interesting card with a couple of competitive handicaps. Will pass on the apprentices race and focus on the 13-runner Class 6 mile at (16:26), which looks best suited for some valuešÆ
A lot of shortish priced winning favourites so poor run of late that we need a snap out of š¤

Chepstow 16.26
š ā AJRAD EW at 6/1
Opting for one we have had wins about previously in Rod Millman's charge AJRAD.
Looks a very solid each-way proposition in a race where plenty arrive with questions to answer. The eight-year-old is a three-time course-and-distance winnerĀ and, most importantly, won this very race last year. He returns now operating around that winning level ā indeed 2lb lower than when landing this contest twelve months agoĀ ā and his record tells us that a Chepstow mile is exactly the sort of test that brings out his best.
There were also encouraging signs that he is coming back to the boil last time. Dropped to 7f here at Chepstow, was held up and met some trouble froma faller in running before finishing a close second, beaten only a quarter of a length.
The return to a mile should suit him considerably better having won 3 of his 10 qualifying starts at Chepstow and 4 of 10 around a mile, while his place record is equally strong.
He is also 7lb below his last winning OR, so there is no question that he is operating from a workable handicap mark if retaining anything close to his previous ability.
The obvious question is the race shape. Chepstow's mile figures favour horses racing towards the front and Weston Court looks the most likely candidate to dictate, with relatively little genuine pace elsewhere.
That could leave the closers needing to quicken sharply. Ajrad, however, is something of an exception to the usual rule here: he has repeatedly demonstrated that he can be ridden patiently at Chepstow and still pick horses off late, including when winning over this course and distance.
George WoodĀ takes the ride and brings plenty of experience to a field containing several less-established combinations, while Rod MillmanĀ is a yard we know well and one capable of placing these older handicappers to good effect.
Priced with 6/1 and one-fifth odds with the THREE paying slots.
