Racing on the turf with a sole flat meeting from Thirsk racecourse.

Looks a drying day so hopefully doesn't turn into a bog with the going soft to press. Tends to favour high drawn runners up the stands side.

Two races to consider today.

Our selection last night was in a race that descended into farce with a gate failure. All but two completed the course meaning just two restarted in a H2H ten minutes later. Bet refunded, no damage done 🤣

No turf tomorrow but back with a look at the AW in the morning around 8.30 am.

Open looking 5f sprint with Zargun heading the market who returned to form at Donny LTO. Form since franked by Maharaja Express winning on the AW since.

However has always been hit and miss, never really following up a performance, and a leaver at wipes yer face.

Snazzy Jazzy has dropped to a good mark for this ex-listed sorted at 5f a bit sharp.

One we have backed of late is Grant Tuer's Illusionist. Said we would consider when back on the turf. Another who 5f maybe a tad sharp but was noted 1st time out last year on the turf running Hyperfocus to a length 3rd at Ripon over this trip off a mark of 90 today goes 15lb better off!

However will look to better prices than those.

Paul Midgley goes two handed with GLORY FIGHTER and MAJESKI MAN.

Going to adopt a split stakes approach. The former arrives fit from the AW but has struggled to hack it in fields over more than 10 runners. However did run Blind Beggar to a couple of lengths last term here under Graham Lee. With Mark Winns claim is 14lb better off than that outing.

Jason Hart gets the up on the latter and a confirmed early season scorer judged on past efforts.

There's 20's about the pair (bet365 have 25's about the latter) for a half stakes approach about these two with enhanced FOUR paying places to record.

Don't often back favourites but will take our LTO selected RUSSCO.

Anne Duffield's charge has fallen to a decent mark and goes in a field with not a lot of proven winners.

David Allan ignores the chances of his Easterby stable Mister Sox to retain the ride.

Taken on by the yard last August has run well enough whilst losing 10lb in the ratings. Previously won on this going and trip for The McCains and rounded off last term with a dencet 4th on the AW to Bella Kopella who has risen 10 in the ratings since .

Two outings so far should be ripe and ready and on with 5/1 and enhanced FOUR paying places to record.
