Catterick 16.15

SECRET MISTRAL - 6/1 EW, 3 places

Canon’s House is a current tracker and looks a likely winner and probably with the ideal race setup, but his price has contracted markedly.

Another of note is Novamay who has an excellent draw and pace profile but still has a genuine question to answer at five furlongs, while Vince L’Amour is well treated but faces the challenge of stall 10.

On balance at just better than wipes yer face odds will take SECRET MISTRAL today.

Her recent sprint form is exceptionally consistent. She arrives having finished 2nd, 1st and 3rd on her last three turf starts, all over five furlongs, including a recent victory at quirky Chester. More importantly, those performances stack up against today’s company with this rated a few pounds lower.

She also has a very solid profile on the going with four places from five runs over the last year. There is an interesting trainer angle too. Tony Carroll doesn’t send many runners to Catterick, but those he has sent have performed extremely well. Over the last five years he is 5-2-3 and this is his sole runner here.

Myla Coppins takes off a useful 5lb, but on her first ride at the track she will need to avoid getting sucked into the early scrimmage for the lead.

However the selected has already shown that she doesn't have to make the running, so ideally can slot in behind the pace and save enough for the finish priced with 6/1 and the THREE paying places (1/5 odds)
