Hamilton 17.00
Going to split stakes on two that I think are priced nicely in this competitive 5f sprint up the stiff Hamilton finish. Prefer charges that are running off the front and have a couple of those here.
First up going with one we went with LTO in OPAL STORM.
Prior win at Southwell was doing ok at the finish chasing home Tim Easterby's Canaria Queen. Brian Rothwell's charge is in good nick at the moment remains on the same workable mark of 55, and given that she’s still relatively lightly raced in this grade, there looks scope for her to remain competitive.
Goes well on the hills with a win at the similar Carlisle and as last time that race was rated around 15lb better than this lowly C6.
Faye McManoman retains the ride and priced with the 12/1 and the FOUR paying places this morning.
Second up is Ruth Carr's DIGITAL and although needs to leave recent form behind, those have been upped in grade since those pair of wins on the AW early this year.
He's as a dual course-and-distance winner, 7-2-3 here, who clearly handles this track. Has similar wins up the hill at Gosforth to suggest he appreciates these hill climbs.
He drops back into Class 6 company after contesting a stronger Class 4 at Southwell last time, where he finished 9th of 10, and this represents a significant ease in grade against much more manageable opposition.
There are enough positives to suggest he can be more competitive today in what looks a weak race.
He now finds himself on a workable mark, the trainer is in good form, and stable jockey Jimmy Sullivan doing the steering and priced with 16/1 and the FOUR paying places.
