Horse Racing Tips by Always Back Winners:- 18th July 2026

🏇 Today's Flat action comes from Newbury, Newmarket, Ripon, Doncaster and Nottingham, with Newbury hosting the feature card courtesy of the Weatherbys Super Sprint and Hackwood Stakes.

From an Always Back Winners perspective, however, it's a challenging day's punting, with very few handicaps attracting over eight runners we look for to maximise each-way value.

Rather than forcing a selection, we'll be keeping our powder dry until this evening, when Doncaster provides the only race that meets our criteria, and that's where today's sole Always Back Winners selection will come from.

Today's Horse Racing Tips

Donny 20.25

Today's sole selection comes in the concluding handicap at Doncaster, where the market understandably centres around recent Leicester winner Palmarian, who arrives in excellent heart after finally getting off the mark.

He sets the standard on recent form and looks the one they all have to beat. However, at around 4/1, we feel his chance is accurately reflected in the market.

Instead, I'm going to put up Alan Brown's PRINCESS NYLA, whose profile suggests she's much better than her current odds imply.

Her recent form doesn't immediately catch the eye, but she's spent much of this season competing in races of a higher standard than today's.

Rather than being out of her depth, she's been holding her own in better company and now returns to a Class 6 contest that represents a more suitable assignment.

Her latest effort came over C&D, where she finished fifth of seven, beaten just over two lengths from a mark of 62. She races from the same mark today, and while the bare finishing position looks ordinary, she wasn't beaten far in a steadily run race.

It may well be that connections have one eye on Monday's 1m2f handicap at Ayr, a trip that looks more in keeping with her recent profile and where she's already entered.

However, this race shouldn't take a great deal of winning and, at the price happy to side with her each-way today.

Hopefully she can get us off to a flying start and then make it a double billing with another big run at Ayr.
