Today's Horse Racing Tips

Hamilton 20.00

🏇 — TERRITORIAL KNIGHT — 15/2 EW, 4 Places

This looks a much healthier betting race than the one we tackled yesterday. There is plenty of genuine current winning form in this field.

Opting for the stronger of Kevin Ryan's duo and TERRITORIAL KNIGHT who stands out as one whose recent ability, ground profile, handicap position and likely race shape all fit together.

The yard yet to peak and also saddle up stablemate Bergerac here, however we know our selected well, having backed him when he ran a very good second at Ayr last time, beaten only 1¾ lengths in a competitive 17-runner 6f handicap of similar class rating to this.

Earlier in the season he was beaten only three lengths when fourthand another C3 in races rated 6lb higher than this.

There is also some particularly encouraging evidence from stiffer, uphill tracks. He won over 6f at Pontefract as a two-year-old, finished third over 7f at Beverley last spring and was runner-up over 6f at Carlisle last September, when beaten by today's rival Top Juggler.

Hamilton's finish should therefore hold no fears, while the G/S ground is another positive. Conditions have been much quicker at many tracks recently and the easier surface should play to his strengths.

His Ayr record adds another strong strand having finished a very creditable fifth of 25 in last year's Bronze Cup, beaten only three lengths in a Class 2.

He is only 3lb above his last winning mark of 82, and as a four-year-old happier accepting that small rise than we would be with an exposed older handicapper trying to rediscover former ability.

Shane Gray does the steering, and at 15/2 with FOUR places available, looks to have both the current form to get involved and enough upside to go one better than at Ayr last time.
